About Me

Who Am I
Hey friends. I’m Geronimo Ramos. I'm a Chef, Designer, Entrepreneur, and Creator. I've been practicing human-centered design for over 10 years and by some miracle had the chance to Sous Chef for Tiger Woods in the Bahamas.
This page is a little self indulgent, it’s all about me. Hopefully you’ll find it interesting though 🙂.
Quick Facts About Me

- As a child, I thought I wanted to be a lawyer, then a chef, and then a comedian. I came out of business school a designer 😆
- I've lived in Los Angeles, Kenya, Spain, Panama, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco.
- I started creating content more seriously in 2022.
- I'm 32 years old. Born in September, 1992 in Los Angeles. I now live in the San Francisco Bay Area.
My Journey From Designer to Creator
I'd say my content journey really started back in 2022 when I was still a full-time product designer in the tech industry. I was the head of product design at my dream food-tech company that was tackling food waste at the root level with farms. Back then, I started creating videos to help people cook quick and healthy food recipes. This is also when I started working in food service more frequently as a prep and line cook to build my culinary skills in my spare time.
Fast forward a few years and I started to become more consistent with my video publishing as well as growing into sous chef roles with my chef mentors. Eventually, I decided to step away from full-time tech work to have more flexibility with my time so that I could publish and cook more.
By 2024 I'd created my culinary and design consultancy, Rooted Table, to officially house all the services I provide as a product designer and chef.
👦 1992 - 2010
I was born in Los Angeles in 1992, growing up on the Eastside bouncing between East Hollywood, Glendale, and the San Gabriel Valley.
As a teenager, I became section leader of my prestigious high school marching band and fell in love with learning and teaching personal development and psychology.
🎓 2010 - 2015
After finishing high school, I joined Pasadena City College to save some money with the goal of transferring into USC. I successfully transferred into my dream school and emphasized in social entrepreneurship.
While at USC, I worked and studied abroad in: Kenya, Hawai'i, Spain, and Washington, D.C. I also co-founded a design thinking studio with my friends that partnered with local non-profits to create asset-based business concepts.
I completed my Bachelors in 2015 and went on to work as a Design Strategist + Creative in the country of Panama. There I partnered with the government in consulting and developing entrepreneurial initiatives across the country.
🚀 2016 - 2019
After Panama I moved to Washington, D.C., where I worked with Ashoka as a Design and Talent Strategist. Realizing I wanted to be more of a design “doer” than a “thinker,” I moved to San Francisco to pursue Product (UX/UI) Design.
At Tradecraft, a technology career accelerator, I honed my skills and built my portfolio. Post-graduation, I worked with startups like Chime, Outdoorsy, and Scale AI.
🌱 2019 - 2022
My passion for social impact led me to Nava Public Benefit Corporation, where I helped improve critical government services for over 50 million Americans. 🇺🇸
During the pandemic, I also started to dabble with creating food content and YouTube videos for fun, sharing recipes and favorite tools. It wasn’t too serious at the time, but I found a lot of joy in it.
Next, I joined Full Harvest, driven by my mission to tackle food waste and climate change. As Lead Product Designer and Manager, I led initiatives to make a real environmental difference.
During this time, I also staged as a prep/line cook and server for food pop-ups and nonprofits across the San Francisco Bay Area, and with the Ferry Building Farmers Market.
👨🍳 2022 - Now
After Full Harvest, I decided to take a break after years of grinding through various roles in international development, non-profits, startups, tech companies, and consulting. But as fate would have it, the universe had other plans.
My chef mentor, Harold Villarosa, reached out just as I was leaving Full Harvest and invited me to be his sous chef for the Tiger Woods Hero World Golf Tournament in the Bahamas. There, I cooked for over 4,000 guests, led a brigade of 30-40 cooks, and managed three kitchens.
It was the hardest challenge of my life but also where my culinary career truly accelerated. Following this incredible experience, I found my voice as a professional cook and continued to work with various pop-ups across the Bay Area as a sous chef.
During this time, I decided to shift my focus, breaking out my work as a fractional product designer to create more time for publishing content consistently and taking on various food gigs to further hone my culinary skills.
In 2024, I formalized my fractional gigs and launched Rooted Table, my digital design and culinary consultancy. Embracing this creative lifestyle more seriously, I’m now dedicated to balancing my passions for design and cooking, creating a fulfilling and impactful career.
